Open Access Week
October 19 – 23 is the first annual Open Access Week, held in coordination with the 5th anniversary of the open access journal PLoS Medicine. PLoS, or the Public Library of Science, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making scientific and medical literature freely available to the public. Open Access Week is designed to broaden awareness of the movement toward open access scholarly publishing. This means being able to freely copy, download and use research materials (with proper citations), without having to request permission from the copyright holder. For more information, see www.openaccessweek.org. For examples of Open Access journals, see the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The Pace University Libraries listing of Print and E-Journals also includes links to DOAJ publications.
